Lessons Learned: As You Measure...

"This is fine, but that is not." We see it every day in both the large and the small things: people (ourselves included) give preference and permissibility to things we like but come down hard on things we don't like. Since when was that okay? Jesus says that judgment will be given to you in the same manner we give it to others. Should God play favorites? If not, then why should we? Let's examine areas of our lives where we've held double standards so we can let go.

Mysterious Encounters: Don’t Pray

When Faith and life intersect amazing things happen. Here is a story of another "Mysterious Encounter" I have experienced in my lifetime. In this "encounter" I "heard God" tell me to stop praying for a sick family member...so I obeyed and stopped praying. The result was an amazing and mysterious encounter with the Almighty God of the universe who chooses to interact with the simple and ordinary of His creation.

Lessons Learned: You Reap What You Sow

We have known for millennia that you can't plant watermelons if you intend for that field to harvest cucumbers. Tomato seeds don't grow into elderberry bushes, wheat doesn't spawn redwoods, and sin doesn't grow a relationship with God. Every day, we choose to spend our hours planting, watering, and feeding things in our lives, and the things we spend that time on matters to God. He makes it clear: you reap what you sow. The Lies We Believe

Misinformation and lies abound. People pass along information without thinking through it or fact checking it. Google, Twitter and Facebook believe it is their responsibility to censor speech and determine truth but they are blinded by their own biases. As Christians we have a moral obligation to know the difference between truth and lies and to only speak in truth.

Lessons Learned: Give Back to Caesar...

Today will be a difficult topic, but we ask you to stick it out and listen for God speaking through His Word to your life today. We're talking about the Christian response to government and authority as described in Scripture: rendering back to Caesar that which is Caesar's, and rendering to God that which is God's. What does that mean? How does that change us? "Hold on, does that mean we're supposed to..." Wait. No, really, listen. The Word of God speaks, if you choose to have ears to hear. Ask for guidance. Ask for clean hands and a pure heart. May the God of grace and peace and justice rule the day.

Discovering God: The Spirit
