As we kick off this new sermon series, we will explore the subtle yet significant obstacles that Christians often allow to hinder their spiritual growth. These barriers, whether they be doubts, distractions, or deep-seated fears, can gradually erode our faith and distance us from the vibrant relationship with Christ that we are called to cultivate. Together, we'll identify these spiritual impediments, confront them with the truth of God's Word, and learn how to dismantle them, so we can continue to grow in faith, deepen our trust in God's promises, and live out our calling as His followers without hesitation or compromise.

Today, as we conclude this series, hopefully, it will have brought you to a greater awareness that God actively speaks to us. And just because it doesn’t come in the form of a booming voice from the sky, it does not mean God has not spoken. Knowing that is the case, we turn our attention to how the Holy Spirit communicates, using examples from what He did in directing first-century believers. On several occasions, God used the Holy Spirit to guide the Apostle Paul on specific mission tasks and led Phillip to bring a eunuch to Christ. And today we’ll look at still other examples. The common denominator here is that the Holy Spirit can speak to us when we are willing to listen. Join us as we look at how to do this in greater depth.

As we continue looking at the ways God speaks to us, we now look at how He can use adversity and bring struggles of all types into our lives to teach, guide, and direct us. Does God really, intentionally inject trouble into our lives to get our attention? He can. It does not mean that He is the source of all the difficulties in our day to day experience. And we must be careful as imperfect humans to judge a perfect God using our imperfect judgment and perceptions. In much the same way as a parent teaches a child through allowing consequences God can do the same for us, all the while showing His love and desire to bring us to greater spiritual maturity. Join us as we look deeper into the ways God speaks to us through adversity.

As we look deeper into discerning the voice of God in our lives, we come to the topic of prophets. This is a hot issue in Christian circles, largely as a result of popular figures who claim to have direct conversations with God Himself, along with the legions of those on YouTube and social media who claim prophetic knowledge of God’s future plans. But God does speak to us today, and there are ways to separate the wheat from the chaff and discern the truth. Pastor Greg walks us through applying the litmus test, which helps us sort out God’s real prophecy from the noise.
